The main panels of this faux wainscotting were painted onto the drywall. The panel borders are vinyl that was pre-painted to simulate wood. Cut into 4" strips, these were appliedto resemble stiles and rails, with some hand-painted shadowing added to simulate depth.
The flooring is 1/8" Masonite, glued down with contact cement and then painted.
The faux finish illusion was protected with two coats of urethane.

During a house-party, a guest commented on this floor detailing.
How it was that he found himself on hands and knees in the loo is anyone's guess.
