Fast and Easy Way to Paint Around Potlights

The shroud of most potlights are spring-loaded and can be pulled down.

Taking them out altogether is simple, but a real nuisance to put back in. And chances are good that you will smudge your nice new flat-white ceiling in doing so.

And why smudge your new work?

Snap a paint stick to width.

Pull the housing down and pop in your stick as a keeper.

(Keep the lights turned off!)

If you are any good with a brush, now you easily have room for cutting in without having to mask or fiddle around.
